BioNear the end of my Senior year at the University of Washington, I was accepted into a program called Teach for America. The aim of the program is to reduce the educational inequality existing in urban, at risk, poor schools accross the United States. I had planned on teaching after graduation anyhow, and TfA was perfect for me because it got me right into a school that needed teachers and allows me to be part of an amazing, successful movement that I really believe in. After a crash course in teaching (summer school in the LA Unified School District), I find myself in a 6th grade Reading and English classroom at Orr Middleschool in the middle of Las Vegas. The next few years are going to be full of trials, triumphs and tears. I invite you to share them with me via this journal.
